New Times: My Promotion
Times are changing at the Testing Department at Miami-Dade College (North Campus). Over the past two months, we have lost two full-timers: Ruben and Amos. They will be greatly missed. I have interviewed for Ruben’s position, and I was offered the position after three levels of interviews. I’m elated, and I am waiting to assume my new responsibilities. Currently, I am a Student Services Assistant II, and I have been, essentially promoted to “Testing Coordinator”. My new duties will include, but will not be limited to, preparing national, institutional and contractual exams; training and informing staff of new exams and their procedures and also hiring new staff. I’m excited about this new position. The only concern I have is that I might not be trained properly, particularly for the distance learning exams. It just seems that the rules keep changing, depending on the institution. Now, that – of course – is not an insurmountable problem, but I just feel that the process could be better streamlined, but I will go more in depth on that issue in another blog. At any rate, now I just have to gear up for my new position and learn all I can to advance. Yahoo! I’m ready!
